I'm with stupid

Is anyone else offended by this never-ending series, directed at all of the supposed idiots in the world? I refuse to read them. I don't like being insulted. What customer does?

With this installment they're saying - not only are you going through a really painful experience in your life, but you're stupid, too!

I've been thinking a lot about the customer's experience lately (and reading about it, too. To mention: Good Experience, and of course, Seth Godin). I'm baffled as to how these books are so successful. Any thoughts?

Vrroom, vrroom

Does anyone know anything about motorcycles with diesel engines? I'd really like to get a classic bike that I can run on biodiesel. Is it do-able?

Here's a good story about a man named Harold Benich. He created a bike from scratch to run on biodiesel. But shouldn't I be able to use an old diesel bike just the same?

From the little research I've done, it looks like Royal Enfield of India used to make a diesel engine bike, but no longer. (Pictured above is their beautiful current Bullet Sixty-5 model). I suppose I could cruise around eBay or Craigslist for an old one.

T-shirts for Katrina Relief

Now, I'm not a t-shirt junkie, like most everyone else who shops at Threadless, but I had to get me one of these Katrina shirts. Threadless has been incredibly generous - donating $20 to the Red Cross when you buy the tee for just $10. They were planning to cap out at $50,000, but have kept the tally going (currently it's $62,920) after the 50K was reached in under 48 hours.

Ross Zietz, a designer that B and I were hoping to work with on our tee project, is the one who designed it, he being from Baton Rouge. (And, I gotta say, he's the cutie on the far left of the the group shot).

p.s. I heard from my fellow eBay community member, the one whose awful feedback propelled me to start this blog. She wrote to say...

It seems that we were both a little overzealous in leaving feedback for this transaction. I would be willing to withdraw the feedback if you would so as well.

Wow. It all evens out in the end. I didn't bother trying to discuss the details with her (i.e. the "both"). Just agreed and moved on.

Coming full circle

Funny story. Last week my good friend, Heidi, and I rode our bikes at 8:30 am to a delicious little bakery in the Mission called Tartine. After a half hour of chatting and caffeinating, we went outside to find that someone had relieved my bike the burden of its front wheel.

Granted, I was ticked off. Just a week after deciding to ride my bike to my every destination in the city, I was suddenly cemented to the ground. I honestly can say I was full of glee riding the streets of SF. That walk home was kind of torturous.

Now the amazing thing is that I put a posting on Craigslist for advice on what I should look for in a new wheel/tire combo, and this guy named Dave steps up and offers me a wheel & tire for free. All he wanted in return was a 'refreshing beverage.' Dave, who lives in Walnut Creek, a full one-hour commute away, came over to my apartment and even put the wheel on himself, adjusting and tweaking my bike. (He's a bike mechanic). He even brought me several maps which he thought might be useful to me, as well as an SF guide to riding around the city. He calls himself a "bike ambassador."

The next day, Labor Day, we met up. I got us some beers, and we sat in Golden Gate Park, talking shop.
